Programs

In addition to our exciting season, we are thrilled to launch the following programming initiatives.

Summer [Incubator] Series will provide two-week residencies for local artists using innovative techniques to create new forms of storytelling. Participants of all artistic disciplines will be invited to further investigate aspects of their work. Musicians, directors, dancers, and visual artists will be able to collaborate with PDG or bring in outside colleagues to construct new work.

[Original Performance Intensive] is designed to foster relationships with educational institutions in the greater Los Angeles area. This initiative mimics the artistic practices of PDG by focusing on how to build a new theatrical experience in a collaborative environment. Students will learn how to confront personal and political issues that will expose shifting and complex perspectives. This six-hour class cultivates an understanding of original story structure, character development, movement and text. [Original Performance Intensive] provides a unique opportunity for students to work with artists in and of their generation.

The Salon at PDG is a chance for artists to come together. Once every month, there is an open space for musicians, poets, dancers, and media artists to share their individual pursuits. By consistently exposing ourselves to the cross pollination of art making, we are asserting our interdependence. Theater is intrinsicly inter-disciplinary, capitalizing on the hybridity of our artistic vigor we march together into the abyss.

Located in downtown Los Angeles, The PDG Performance Warehouse is dedicated to presenting innovative, multi-disciplinary, and collaborative work. Founded in November 2008, the PDG Performance Warehouse is home to Poor Dog Group, a collective of performance and media artists committed to developing original theatrical expression through the creation of new work and radical reexaminations of existing texts. This 5900 square foot warehouse welcomes musicians, visual and performance artists, filmmakers, and art enthusiasts to be a part of a developing downtown arena for the arts.
